Nate Johnstone carves the north side of Mt BullerIn July 2014, the Rip Curl crew of pro athletes visited Buller as a part of a tour they were doing across all the major resorts in New South Wales and Victoria. We'd been out there shooting since before sun up, and mostly we'd been looking toward Frenchman's. Then I turned around and saw the sun back lighting this cool looking spine that dropped down from the summit hut. Nate had just hiked back up the boot pack, and as he approached us, i just said, "Nate, hit that spine and do something rad". Aaaand he did. Resulting in this cracker shot. Which ended up being used as a poster in the 2015 Mt Buller resort printed marketing materials. To this day, it's one of my favorite snow action shots.

Brodie Chapman, all round cycling legend. This lady can ride a bike. Seriously, she can ride any bike. Road, CX, Enduro, cross country, you name it. And she can mix it with the best. Recently she won the 2018 Women's Herald Sun Tour, scoring a pro deal with the road cycling team, "TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank".This image was shot down by the Webb Dock just off Todd Rd in Port Melbourne. We were shooting some social media content for Brodie to use in her various accounts. It was also a test for a new and rather large flash pack that I had just recently finished setting up. When I say setting up, I mean getting all of the pieces in place so that it works as a reliable and fully functioning kit on location. It's actually a studio floor pack, so hence it requires 240v power to run it. Hence the testing to find the right portable generator for the job. But it has an amazingly slow flash duration, which makes it ideal for use with the hypersync/hi-sync flash technique. This technique allows you to synchronize flash at extraordinarily high shutter speeds. Which in turn opens up a whole bunch of creative possibilities, especially when shooting action sports or commercial work on location. .  The flash pack and head combination that I use is are so powerful, that I was able to over power the sun in this exposure, freeze the action, and even light up the shadows under the West Gate Bridge. Which was probably a good 50 meters away. I know, that's a lot of flash power right.

Jeff Kendall-Weed pops an award winning jump on his Ibis Mojo HD3. Well, the jump wasn't quite award winning, but the photo was, picking up a very solid Silver at the 2016 AIPP National print awards. It was almost voted up to a silver distinction. But lets not take anything away from Jeff, he sure can ride a bike, and jump like you wouldn't believe. He was getting insane air off of the smallest of trail features. Like in this shot, he was hitting a small tree root no more than about 6 inches in diameter, yet he was getting enough altitude for me to safely shoot a another angle and shot from directly beneath him. That's right, I got a shot of him on this same section of trail as I was laying on the trail looking upwards. In fact I almost could have sat up, even have been on my knees and still we would have cleared me.   .
